    Choosing when almost everything fits

On this site a large garden is one that can give a trampoline more than 8 m of clear, level ground along its longest side. That is the trampoline's length plus the 2 m BERG asks for at each end. Once you are past that mark, space stops deciding for you, so decide in this order.

    • How it sits. On legs, nothing is dug and the net is included. In-ground and FlatGround sit low and keep the view down the garden, and need an installer for the groundwork. See in-ground or above ground.
    • Shape. Round needs a square of clear ground. Oval and rectangular models need more length and less width.
    • Range. Favorit, Champion, Elite or Pro Bouncer: the differences are in the springs, the padding and the warranty. They are set out in Favorit, Champion or Elite.

Every size on the medium garden page fits a large garden too, if you would rather keep more lawn. The size guide shows how to measure. If you want a second opinion, a free garden consultation works from your photos and rough measurements.

    Questions people ask

How much ground does the biggest BERG trampoline need?+

    The 16 x 16ft (500 x 500cm) Pro Bouncer is the largest. With 2 m clear on every side it needs 9 m x 9 m of level ground, and 7 m of clear height above it.

How do I measure a large garden for a trampoline?+

Do not measure the boundary. Mark where the trampoline would go and measure the level ground there, both ways, to the nearest fence, wall, tree, shed, washing line or play frame. Take 4 m off each figure and what is left is the largest trampoline that fits. Check for branches and wires overhead as well.

We have the room. Should we just buy the biggest?+

Not for that reason alone. A bigger mat gives more room and suits older children and adults, but it is still one jumper at a time under BERG's rules. Think about who will use it in five years, how much lawn you want left for everything else, and the budget. If two sizes both fit, the larger one usually makes sense for a family with children still growing.

Part of the garden slopes. Does that matter?+

Yes. A BERG trampoline needs level ground, so only the level part counts when you measure. Any levelling is a job for a landscaper or builder to assess. An in-ground installer will look at levels and drainage as part of their quote.

A big trampoline in an open garden: what about wind?+

A large trampoline on legs with a net presents a lot to the wind, and big gardens are often open ones. Anchor it: we sell two kits for use on grass. BERG says to remove the padding and the net ahead of a heavy storm and check the anchors after it. On an exposed or coastal site we would look first at an in-ground or FlatGround model, which sits low.

    Oval or rectangular?+

Both use a long lawn well. BERG's oval trampolines are the Grand models and the rectangular ones are the Ultim models. A rectangle has straight sides, so it sits neatly along a boundary line with the clearance kept. Each tile shows the length and width of clear ground that model needs, so compare those against your own measurements.
