Trampolines and go-karts for ages 9 to 12

By nine the smallest sizes are behind you. Here are 27 trampolines from 11ft to 14ft, priced €659 to €1,959, the 3 go-karts whose guides run to twelve or beyond, and the PlayBase frames with their climbing accessories.

A note on the ages. Go-kart ages are BERG's guides, taken as they are. BERG's trampoline manual sets no age bands above its advice on children under 6, so the trampolines are our own starting points for this age. The rule: sold with a safety net, 11ft to 14ft (330cm to 430cm) on the longest side, on legs or in-ground.

    Go-karts for ages 9 to 12

Two frames cover this band, so there is a choice to make. BERG's guide for the Rally is 4 to 12 years and for the XL it is 5 years to adult. The Buddy guide ends at 8, which is why it is missing here. A twelve year old is at the top of the Rally guide; the XL guide carries on to adult. The go-kart buying guide goes through the frames.

Trampolines on legs with a net, 11ft to 14ft

Our picks by the rule above, not BERG age ratings. Round, oval and rectangular models from 330cm to 430cm, each with its safety net in the price. Use the filters to narrow by shape or by the garden you have.

    In-ground trampolines with a net, 11ft to 14ft

The in-ground options in the same sizes. They need the same clear ground as a trampoline on legs, and an installer does the groundwork. For one finished level with the grass, see the FlatGround models, most of which are sold without a net.

PlayBase climbing frames, ages 3 and up

Every frame has monkey-bar rungs across the top. The Medium, Large and Extra Large stand on their own; the Wall fixes to a load-bearing brick or block wall.

    Climbing accessories for a PlayBase

The climbing wall, the climbing nets and the platform with its slide. Each tile says which frame it fits. They need a PlayBase frame to fix to.

Choosing a trampoline for a 9 to 12 year old

The trampoline grids above follow one rule that we wrote ourselves: a safety net, and a longest side from 11ft to 14ft. That is 14 models on legs and 13 in-ground. BERG does not rate trampolines by age, so treat the rule as a starting point for looking and let the garden have the final say.

Smaller than 11ft? The ages 6 to 8 page covers those. Larger than 14ft, or buying with teenagers in mind? See teens and adults.

Maximum user weights we can state

A weight appears here only where we have read it in a BERG manual:

We hold no figure for the rest. Ask and we will find out.

    Range and shape

The same size comes in up to three ranges at three prices. Favorit, Champion or Elite explains what the dearer ranges add. For shape, check the width as well as the length: each tile gives the clear ground needed, and a free garden consultation will confirm it from photos.

    Questions people ask

What size trampoline for a 10 year old?+

BERG gives no size by age. Our starting point for ages 9 to 12 is 11ft to 14ft with a safety net. Those models need between 7.3 m and 8.3 m of clear, level ground on the longest side, so measure before you settle on one.

Rally or XL for a child aged 9 to 12?+

Both guides include this band: the Rally is 4 to 12 years and the XL is 5 years to adult. A twelve year old is at the top end of the Rally guide, and the XL guide continues to adult. Height matters as much as age, so tell us your child's height if you are unsure.

Is an in-ground trampoline better for this age?+

Neither is better. An in-ground trampoline sits low in the lawn and needs groundwork by an installer. One on legs needs nothing dug. BERG's clearances, and its rule of one user at a time, are the same for both.

Does BERG give a maximum user weight?+

For some models. On this page we have read a figure in BERG's manual for 4 of the 27, from 100 kg to 120 kg depending on size. The list is further down. For the others, ask us.

Can friends jump together when they come over?+

BERG's manual says one user at a time, whatever the size of the trampoline, because of the risk of a collision. Taking turns is the rule to set from day one.

    Are somersaults allowed?+

No. BERG's manual says no somersaults, because landing on the head or neck can cause serious injury even in the middle of the mat.

Who does the digging for an in-ground trampoline?+

An installer, landscaper or builder, who looks at the garden and quotes you directly. BERG says an in-ground trampoline needs adequate drainage and a check of the ground water, which the installer assesses on site. We supply and deliver, and can put you in touch with an independent installer.
