BERG go-kart buying guide: which kart for which age
Choosing a BERG go-kart is mostly a question of age. We sell 5 pedal karts on three frames, and BERG publishes an age guide for each frame: Buddy 3 to 8 years, Rally 4 to 12 years and XL 5 years to adult. Find the rider's age below and you will see which frames are in guide and what separates them.
The guides overlap, so for much of childhood more than one kart fits. That is where the second question comes in: how long do you want it to last, and who else will want a go?

Tall or small for their age?
An age guide assumes ordinary height. Tell us the rider's height and we will say which frame we would choose. Ring 01 960 1641, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.

The two Buddy karts are the same kart in different colours: the Lua is pink and green. We print only what a model's name and BERG's age guide tell us. For tyres, weights or measurements, ask and we will check BERG's figures with you. All five are also on our go-karts page.
What BFR means
BFR is the name of a BERG hub. A kart that has it moves forward when you pedal forward, brakes when you pedal backwards, and can also be reversed.
Among our karts the letters are in the name of the XL B.Pure Blue BFR. We go by the model name, so for any other kart, look at its page on the shop or ask us what it is fitted with.
Where a pedal kart can go
Private ground only. A lawn, a yard, a driveway with the gate closed. A pedal kart must never be taken onto a public road, and that includes a quiet one.
Stay close to younger riders, and keep karts well away from moving cars and machinery.
Delivery, and Christmas 2026
- Free delivery on every kart, to all 32 counties.
- Karts are kept in our own warehouse in Ireland and reach you within 48 hours.
- Boxed on arrival, which makes one easy to hide. We do not assemble, so leave time with BERG's manual before the big morning.
- For Christmas, order an in-stock kart by Wednesday 16 December.
- Collection from our warehouse is by appointment, until 12 noon on Christmas Eve.
Warranty and returns
Every kart carries BERG's manufacturer warranty. We do not hold a confirmed length for karts, so we print none: ask us and we will get BERG's current terms for the kart you are looking at.
Our own terms are simpler. You have 14 days to return an order. If you change your mind, the return delivery is yours to pay. If the kart is faulty, damaged or the wrong one, we pay it. We keep genuine BERG spare parts.
Questions people ask
What age is a BERG go-kart for?+
It depends on the frame. BERG's age guides are 3 to 8 years for the Buddy, 4 to 12 years for the Rally, 5 years to adult for the XL. We sell 5 karts across those three frames, from €299 to €595.
What is the smallest BERG go-kart you sell?+
The Buddy. BERG rates it from 3, and it is the only frame we sell with a guide that starts that young. It comes as the Buddy B.Orange and Buddy Lua.
My child is between two frames. Which should I buy?+
Look at where each guide ends as well as where it starts, and tell us the child's height. BERG's guides assume a child of ordinary size for their age, so a tall or small child may suit the frame above or below.
Can an adult ride a BERG go-kart?+
Only one built for it. Of the frames we sell, the XL is the one BERG rates for an adult: its guide is 5 years to adult.
Are these go-karts motorised?+
No. All five are pedal karts with no motor. The rider's legs do the work.
When must I order a go-kart for Christmas?+
For Christmas 2026, order an in-stock kart by Wednesday 16 December for delivery before Christmas. After that, in-stock orders can still be collected from our warehouse by appointment until 12 noon on Christmas Eve.
Is delivery of a go-kart free?+
Yes. Go-karts are delivered free anywhere in Ireland, including the ones priced under our usual €300 threshold. They are held in our own Irish warehouse and delivered within 48 hours.
