Who installs an in-ground BERG trampoline in Ireland?
The short answer: someone you hire. We supply and deliver the trampoline. An independent installer, a landscaper or a builder prepares the ground and fits it, and gives you their own price for doing so.
This page explains that split and what to have ready for the person you ask. It gives no digging instructions, measurements or drainage methods. Those belong to BERG's manual and to whoever is standing in your garden.
Who does what
We do
- Help you choose a size and type that fits BERG's clearances, from photos if you like.
- Supply the trampoline and deliver it on a pallet to the kerbside, free.
- Pass you the contact of an independent installer, if you would like one.
- Handle BERG warranty claims and keep genuine BERG parts.
The installer, landscaper or builder does
- Visit, or look at your photos, and decide whether the ground suits.
- Give you a price directly. It is their quote and their work.
- Prepare the ground and fit the trampoline, following BERG's manual.
- Judge the drainage and the ground water on site.
You do
- Pick the spot and confirm the clear space around and above it.
- Choose who does the groundwork and agree the price with them.
- Be there to sign for the delivery and move the boxes in from the kerb.
- Ask your local authority anything about planning.
This applies to every trampoline that sits in the lawn: our 40 InGround models from €339 and our 23 FlatGround models from €699. See them all.
What BERG's manual asks of the ground
BERG says a trampoline set into the ground needs "adequate drainage", and that the ground-water level should be checked. Neither can be judged from a photo. It takes someone on site.
It matters for the warranty too. BERG's manual lists "improper burial" among the things that void it, along with a trampoline that is not assembled as the manual describes. The full list is in the warranty guide.
Space is the part you can settle yourself. A trampoline in the lawn needs the same clear ground as one on legs: 2 m on every side and 7 m overhead. The size guide gives the figure for each size.
What to have ready for an installer
Put these together before you ring anyone, and send the same pack to each person you ask so the quotes can be compared.
- Photos of the spot
- A few wide shots from different sides, showing the fences, trees and buildings nearby.
- Rough measurements
- The length and width of the clear, level ground, and how far the spot is from the house and the boundaries.
- The way in
- How a person, a barrow or a small machine would reach the back garden: side passage, gate, steps, anything narrow or low.
- Where the soil will go
- Decide whether the dug earth stays on your site or has to be taken away, and say so when you ask for a price.
- What is underneath
- Anything you know about pipes, cables, drains or a septic tank in that part of the garden. If you do not know, say that.
- How the ground behaves
- Whether that part of the lawn lies wet after rain or in winter. An installer will want to know.
- The exact trampoline
- The model name and size, and whether it has a net. BERG's manual for that model is what the installer works from.
Ask each person what their price includes, and get it in writing. We stay out of that agreement: it is between you and them.
Planning
We cannot advise on planning. If you are unsure whether work in your garden needs permission, ask the planning office of your local authority before anything is dug.
Afterwards: the yearly inspection
BERG's manual says the hole under an InGround or FlatGround trampoline should be inspected regularly, at least once a year. If what you see worries you, call back the person who did the groundwork. The rest of the upkeep is in the care guide.

And an above-ground trampoline?
There is no groundwork. One of our 26 trampolines on legs arrives boxed, and the household builds it on level grass from BERG's manual. We do not assemble. Choose a calm day, as the manual says not to set one up in windy weather, and anchor it when it is standing.
If you are still choosing between the two kinds, read in-ground or above ground. If you would like us to look at the garden first, book a free garden consultation or ring 01 960 1641, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
Questions people ask
Do you install in-ground trampolines?+
No. We supply and deliver. The groundwork and fitting are done by an independent installer, a landscaper or a builder, who looks at your garden and quotes you directly. We can put you in touch with an independent installer if you have nobody in mind.
How much does it cost to have an in-ground trampoline installed?+
We cannot give a figure, and we would be wary of anyone who gives one without seeing the garden. The price depends on the ground, the access and the size, and it comes from whoever does the work.
Can my own landscaper or builder do it?+
Yes. The choice is yours. Give them the model name so they can work from BERG's manual for that trampoline, which asks for adequate drainage and a ground-water check.
Do I need planning permission for an in-ground trampoline?+
We cannot advise on planning. Rules and their interpretation are a matter for your local authority, so ask its planning office before work starts if you have any doubt.
Can you send me the hole dimensions?+
We do not publish or send groundwork drawings, depths or drainage details. BERG's manual for the model is the reference, and the person doing the work should read it and take responsibility for the result.
Should I order the trampoline before or after getting a quote?+
After. If the ground turns out to be unsuitable you will want to know while every option is still open, including a trampoline on legs. In-stock models are delivered within 48 hours and others typically take 7 to 10 days, and we confirm the date when you order.
Who assembles an above-ground trampoline?+
You do, or someone you ask. It arrives boxed and BERG's manual covers assembly. We do not assemble, and we do not give assembly times.
Thinking of an in-ground trampoline?
Send photos of the spot and rough measurements. We will check the size against BERG's clearances, give you the delivered price, and pass on an independent installer's details if you want them.
