BERG PlayBase buying guide: which frame, which set
A PlayBase is bought in two parts. First the steel frame, which never changes. Then whatever hangs from it, which can change every year the children grow. Get the frame right and the rest is easy to adjust later.
So this guide goes in that order: the 4 frames, the ends, sets against a build of your own, then accessories by age and by fit. Frames start at €999, sets run from €1,038 to €2,765, and accessories start at €29.
The four frames compared

"Accessory points" are the carabiner points under the top bar. "Swings at once" is how many swing-type accessories the frame takes side by side, which in practice is how many children can swing together.
All four share the rest: steel, powder-coated over a zinc layer, in Black or Green, with a row of monkey-bar rungs along the top. Each is 1 m deep and 2.45 m high, carries a maximum total load of 400 kg, is CE marked, and is for ages 3 and up. A steel frame needs no treating or staining.
The ends: TT, TL or LL
Each end of a free-standing frame is either a tumble bar (T) or a ladder (L). The Medium and Large frames are sold with a choice, and the choice changes the price. Two ladders make the frame a climb-up, swing-across set of monkey bars. The table lists them from the lowest price up.
A ready-made set, or your own build
A set is a frame and a group of accessories sold as one product. BERG's sets are the Swing, Family, Active, Sports, Peak and Ultimate, and each is sold on some frames only.

One worked comparison. The Active set is two swing seats, gym rings and a trapeze. Bought one by one, those accessories come to €149. The set costs €1,567 on the Medium and €2,135 on the Extra Large. Put that beside the frame prices above, and ask us which ends the set includes, since the ends move the frame price.
A set suits you if its contents are what you would have picked anyway. Your own build suits you if the children are far apart in age, or if you want one accessory now and more at birthdays. Either way nothing is fixed: accessories clip to the carabiner points and can be swapped.
Accessories by age
From 9 months
The baby seat, €79, is the one accessory for a child under three. It has a harness and a T-bar, and an adult does the pushing.
Ages 3 and up
Swings from €29, climbing from €219 and sports from €99. This is the frame's own age guide, and it covers nearly everything.
Ages 14 and over
Fitness accessories from €49: pull-up bar, dip bar, boxing bag, fitness rope and resistance bands. They turn a play frame into a training frame for teenagers and adults.
By age across the whole shop: 3 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 12, teens and adults.
Which accessories fit which frame
Most accessories fit every frame. Three kinds do not: the hammock, the platform with its slide, and the nets and goals that are made to a frame's width. Check this table before adding anything to a basket.

Space
The frame's own footprint is its width by 1 m. Swings need room to travel beyond that, and BERG's manual gives the free space each frame needs. We do not print those figures. We check them against your garden in a free consultation.
The 3 free-standing frames are held by base sections anchored in the ground, with no concrete needed. The Wall fixes to a load-bearing brick or block wall and suits a yard or a small garden with no lawn to spare.
Warranty, delivery and assembly
BERG's manufacturer warranty on the PlayBase frame is 10 years, 13 when registered with BERG, so register it as soon as it arrives. Ask us about the terms on accessories.
Every frame and set is delivered free in Ireland. It arrives boxed and BERG's manual covers assembly. We do not put it up. Frames, sets and accessories are all on our PlayBase page.
Questions people ask
Which BERG PlayBase frame should I buy?+
Count how many children will be on it at once. The Wall takes one or two swing-type accessories, Medium takes two swing-type accessories, Large takes three swing-type accessories and Extra Large takes four swing-type accessories. Then check the width you have: the frames run from 1.2m to 4.9m.
What is the difference between TT, TL and LL?+
They are the two ends of a free-standing frame. T is a tumble bar and L is a ladder, so TT is two tumble bars, TL is one of each and LL is two ladders, which suits monkey-bar style climbing. The Medium and Large frames are sold in all three.
Is a set cheaper than buying the frame and accessories separately?+
It varies by set and by frame, so compare the set price with the frame price and the accessories you would actually use. Ask us which ends a set comes with before you compare, because the ends change the frame price.
Can a toddler use a PlayBase?+
BERG rates the PlayBase for ages 3 and up. The one accessory for younger children is the baby seat, which can be used from 9 months with an adult pushing.
What can teenagers and adults do on it?+
The fitness accessories are made for them: pull-up bar, dip bar, boxing bag, fitness rope and resistance bands. BERG rates these for ages 14 and over.
Does the hammock fit every frame?+
No. The hammock fits the Large frame only. The platform and slide fit the three free-standing frames and cannot go on the Wall. Climbing nets and soccer goals are made in M, L and XL for the Medium, Large and Extra Large.
What wall can the PlayBase Wall go on?+
A load-bearing brick or block wall, such as a house, a garage or a solid shed. A fence, a timber panel or a hollow partition will not do.
